I think what I found most interesting about this episode was how Laura keeps insisting this is a fairy tale and this is her happy ending. Carmilla is her idealized hero who saved the day and everything should be going to spec.
But how on earth can broody anti-hero Carmilla uphold that image forever? Especially considering that in the first episode we see she is lying about how she knew about the new house they’re staying at.
Even in the first episode we can see the beginning of the hollstein relationship arc. Laura wants to see things in black and white, including her relationship with her smoking vampire girlfriend. Tragically everyone, including Carmilla, is very much gray.
I shudder to think about what the fallout will be when this fantasy is broken and Laura starts to see this brave new world in a less idealized way.
